Dropping Trees

If you walk the trails the next few weeks you'll notice many knocked down trees. Most of these are large black locust, which are invasive around here. As part of our forest management plan with the DNR they want us to remove as many of these as possible. Winter is the best time because of the hard ground and the lack of leaves.

No, we won't be letting them lay everywhere, we'll be cleaning them up. But because of the volume it is going to take a while.

We are also taking down dead trees of various species that are overhanging the trails. Unfortunately many of these are black oaks that have succumbed to oak wilt. It is what it is.

So, no we aren't doing any development or leaving a mess, it's all part of the process.

If you see equipment out there working, keep alerts and give them a wide berth.

Thanks - Tim
